Parish Life

Parish Family Life Committee
This committee sponsors periodic social events to provide opportunities for parishioners to get together, relax, play, enjoy and get to know one another better.  These may include day trips, sporting events, picnics, etc.  People working on this committee may be involved contacting resources, selling tickets, set-up or clean-up after events held at the church, and/or publicity.  Social events enrich our sense of community.  All are welcome to be a part of the special events of St. Stephen's.  Events are announced in The Scroll and the Sunday bulletins.  The Parish Family Life Committee sponsors various events.  In the past we have sponsored events such as Best Ball Golf Tournament, Central City outing, Avalanche and Rockies games, bowling tournament, IMAX, Country Dinner Playhouse, and all church potluck dinners. Please contact the church if you have any ideas for an all church event!

Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is made up of several sub groups who together put on the monthly breakfast between services on the second Sunday.  One group meets at 9:00 a.m. Saturday to cook and set up.  A second group comes about 7:00 a.m. Sunday to finish cooking and to serve, and the third group cleans up starting about 9:00 a.m. or 9:30 a.m.  It is not necessary to always work in the same group; sometimes schedules dictate one time and sometimes another.  We try to call workers each month, but if this sounds like something you would like to do, don't wait for a call!  Contact Ruth LaFrance for more information.

Bridge Club
This is a group which meets monthly to play social contract bridge.  The group is hosted by different members and usually meets the first Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  Each person/couple brings munchies to share and their own beverage of choice.  Call the church or check the bulletin for the next scheduled meeting.  All are welcome -- from beginners to experts!

Gastromartyrs
Gastromartyrs is a social dinner group consisting of about 40 people, singles and couples.  It meets once a moth from September through May in the host's home for dinner.  The purpose is to bring parishioners together socially, in small groups, usually 8 to 10 people.  Each host prepares the main course.  The guests are assigned to bring appetizers, salad, bread or dessert to contribute to the meal.  Gastromartyrs has a kick-off appetizer party, a Christmas party, and a Progressive Dinner finale which are open to all adult members of St. Stephen's.  All adult parishioners are welcome to join in the Fall (or throughout the year as space becomes available) by attending the kick-off or by calling the coordinator.  All members are asked to host once.  If you are unable to host, you can join as an alternate, to be called if a host has a cancellation.  Join us for great food and fun!  Contact the church office for more information or to sign up.

Birds of "Pray"

Our mission is to enjoy God’s creation in the great outdoors. Our goals are to learn, have fun and experience the beauty of nature through the wonderful world of birds! BOP meets the 4th Saturday morning of each month, from January through October, and carpools from the church to local birding hot-spots. Afterwards, we have lunch together at a nearby restaurant. Contact person is Marsha Smith.

Historical Committee
St. Stephen's is approaching a landmark anniversary:  In January, 2010, we will be celebrating 50 years in our Holy Place on Del Mar.  If you have photos, stories or other memorabilia to share, please contact the church office.
