Outreach Committee
"Work to develop new programs and support existing
programs in an effort to seek and serve Christ in all persons." This
committee is responsible for coordinating various outreach ministries of the
parish, and for giving emergency assistance to those found to have a need.
The committee also gives financial assistance to the various outreach ministries
of the parish and supports other churches in their efforts to serve humanity
with money and basic necessities. Email
Ruth LaFrance for more
information.
Aurora Interchurch Task Force, Inc.
This is a volunteer agency whose sole aim
is to express Christian concern by providing emergency assistance. This
non-profit organization serves Aurora only. Churches, civic organizations,
schools, individuals and volunteers donate all funds, goods and hours of
service. Volunteers work in the Clothing Bank, Food Bank, Furniture Bank
and Office. They also help with delivery of Meals-on-Wheels.
Volunteers are especially needed Tuesday mornings. Needs of Interchurch
Task Force include: food such as canned goods (e.g., spinach, peas, mixed
vegetables, fruits, meats), dry beans, peas, fresh potatoes, baking powder, and
powdered milk. Non-food items include dish soap and bar soap (sample size
is okay), small jars with lids (up to a pint) and plastic containers used to
repackage bulk items for distribution. Clothing needs include childrens'
sizes 4 through 12, especially jeans. Household items needed include twin
bed sheets, silverware, and pots and pans. Items should be clean and in good
repair.
For more information, you can contact the
Aurora Interchurch Task Force at (303) 360-0260.
Can-Do Project
The Denver Canning Project sponsored by Central Denver Community
and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a wonderful community
ministry, helping people in need of food. From May through October, one
day per month, volunteers work at the Denver Cannery of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Aurora. Volunteers clean, prepare, can,
label and box various vegetables and fruits. The food is then donated to
the Aurora Interchurch Task Force for their food pantry, to help the needy.
Important things to remember:
 |
Anyone 16 years and older may work at
the Cannery. |
 |
Wear comfortable and washable clothing.
No shorts or sandals. Shirts and blouses with sleeves. Rubber soled shoes. |
 |
Arrive at the Cannery at 8:00AM ready
to work until 1:00PM. |
 |
There is no place to lock up purses. A
fanny pack is good to wear or something with pockets. |
 |
No jewelry or watches. These can be put
in a pocket. |
 |
A light lunch is provided-usually
pizza. A soda machine and drinking fountain are available in the Cannery. |
The Denver Cannery project is only possible

Feeding Ministry (St. Clare's Supper)
The first Tuesday of each month, several
people from St. Stephen's (including some of our youth) volunteer to go to St.
Peter and St. Mary Episcopal Church to help serve supper to the hungry.
You will find this a very gratifying experience. St. Peter and St. Mary is
located at 126 W. 2nd Avenue in Denver. The team needs to arrive at 5:00
p.m. and work until approximately 7:00 p.m. Volunteers from St. Stephen's
and St. Peter and St. Mary prepare the meals early in the day. The 5:00
p.m. volunteers serve and clean up after supper.
Contact
the
church office for more information or to volunteer.
Greeters Guild
Greeters are the first persons you meet when you come to a
service at St. Stephen's. They are here to welcome everyone warmly, from
newcomers to long-time church members. They guide new people to sign our
guest book, complete a visitor card, and introduce them to other members.
This is truly a rewarding ministry. Contact
Elizabeth Starkey for more
information.

Lenten Bread Sales
These take place on Sundays during Lent
between services. Money benefits Outreach programs.
Watch for more information as Lent
approaches.
Loaves & Fishes
A feeding program sponsored by the
Episcopal Church Center annually. The Episcopal Church responds to God's
message to his people: "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was
thirsty and you gave me something to drink..." (Mt. 225:35)
St. Francis Center
A safe place where the homeless people can
come during the day. Volunteers work with paid staff doing various jobs. The
people who come to the Center are guests -- homeless. Some of us go two times a
month on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. We do need help. Thank you for all the
donations to help the homeless--they are greatly appreciated.

the
church office, 303-364-3186.
St. Stephen's
Tutoring Program
On Wednesday afternoons we open the doors
of St. Stephen's and our hearts to neighborhood children. One-on-one
tutoring, snacks, story time, and crafts are provided to children from
neighboring Lyn Knoll Elementary School.
