Chalice Ministers
These men and women assist the
Rector at the Altar and Communion rail during Eucharistic services.
Training is managed at the discretion of the Rector.
Lectors (Readers) and Intercessors
Lectors are asked to read a
specified lesson from either the Old or New Testament during the worship
service. Intercessors are asked to read the Prayers of the People from the
congregation. It is required that you be a confirmed Episcopalian and a
member in good standing. If you feel a call to this type of ministry, make
arrangements for training with the
Lay Ministry Coordinator,
Erin Richards.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors
This group of individuals has met the requirements of the
diocese to be licensed as Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEVs). They are given
the responsibility to bring the Sunday Eucharist to the shut-in members of St.
Stephen's church. Thus, the family of the church is extended beyond the
walls of our building. At least once per month, the LEVs go out from
Sunday service with the Reserve Sacrament to serve the Lord's Supper to those
persons unable to attend services.

Discernment Committee
This is a volunteer group from the parish who agrees to
accompany an aspirant for Holy Orders through their decision-making process
toward their chosen vocation. This committee of individuals and the
process of discernment are required by the Canons of the church for each person
seeking to be ordained in the Episcopal tradition.
